Next time you go to the Brevard Zoo, look out for 16 life-size metal animals displayed around Zoo grounds. You will find life-size sculptures of elephants, lions, a giraffe and more. The creators are a group of 19 young artists in Nairobi, Kenya. These works of art are composed of recycled materials.
The group of artists come from the Ark Collective. The collective searches creatives from disadvantaged, impoverished backgrounds. The purpose is to provide an opportunity to learn valuable skills. Metal cutting, designing, and welding, all of which were used to create the sculptures, for your viewing pleasure at the Zoo.
